Heart disease is the number one cause of death in our state today. One in three Missouri deaths is attributed to major cardiovascular diseases, including stroke.
As you can see in the graph to the right, heart disease kills nearly 19,000 Missourians annually. Statewide heart disease caused 34.4% of all deaths* in the state. Below are the percentages of all deaths caused by heart disease listed by Missouri county:
Lewis - 44.2%
Lincoln - 30.1%
Marion - 34.0%
Ralls - 29.2%
Pike - 30.5%
