Hannibal Regional Hospital’s Auxiliary honored Machele Hosley as Volunteer of the Year at their Service Awards luncheon on April 16, 2012 at the Quality Inn.
Ms. Hosley volunteered more than 1160 hours in 2011 and has served over 2400 lifetime hours. Ms. Hosley was presented this award in recognition of her tremendous efforts the last two years while serving as the Chairperson for Judy’s Boutique. In 2010 the HRH Auxiliary made a pledge that included renovating and expanding the hospital gift shop. “Machele was instrumental in the design and details of the new gift shop. Judy’s Boutique would not be what it is today without her hard work and dedication. Machele spends tireless hours at home and it is not uncommon to see her at the hospital all days of the week. Her passion for the gift shop and making sure the service is available to patients and their families make her the perfect candidate for this very special honor,” said Alicia Rollins, Director of Volunteer Services. Ms. Hosley has served in other areas of the Auxiliary, including fresh flowers.
Machele was born in Springfield, MO and spent most of her childhood in Polk, Missouri. She has lived in Hannibal for 19 years with her husband of 25 years, Dr.Brett Hosley, and their two children Blake, 17 and Alyx, 21. Machele is very involved in other community activities including PTSA, Project Graduation, High School Booster Club, PEO and much more.
Also honored at this year’s Awards Banquet was Past President, Carol Wilhoit for all of her efforts and hard work in her 6 years on the Executive Committee. Carol started many patient- centered programs in her two year term as president including Greeters, Physical Therapy Coaches and the “Wish List” Program that funds patient-centered items for various departments. Other presentations included Honorary Membership that was awarded to Fern Langley, Kay Detwieler, Zoe Spencer and Wilma Hightower. Special Recognition was presented to Lorene Harlow, Ben Broughton, Sandra Greenwall, Sharon Laser, Ingrid Sheets and Lana Ferrell.
