The much anticipated Shoeless Joe Celebrity Golf Classic will be held at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal on June 16, 2010. Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation, partnering with the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and many local businesses, have been working diligently over the past few months to host this special event in Hannibal. All funds raised through the golf tournament will be benefit the foundation’s Comfort and Assurance Campaign.
“It has been such a wonderful experience working with members of our community to bring this event to Hannibal,” states Wendy Harrington, President and CEO of Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation. “The support of this event has been overwhelming, and the golf teams are full, as well as the various sponsorship levels. We thank all of the tournament sponsors and volunteers for assisting with preparations for the golfers and celebrities that will be traveling into town with the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.”
In addition to the Shoeless Joe Golf Classic on Wednesday, sport celebrities participating in the tournament will be attending the Hannibal Cavemen versus Quincy Gems baseball game on Wednesday, June 15. Missouri Sports Hall of Fame inductees will be available prior to the game to sign autographs and visit with fans. Celebrities include Mel Gray, Gus Otto, Art Still, Tom Henke, Woody Williams, Bernie Federko, Irl Robinson, Dave Phillips, and Paul Reuschel. The celebrities will also be assisting with throwing the first pitch of the game. In addition, John Yancey will be auctioning off an autographed Stan Musial bat at the conclusion of the game.
