Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP)

There are nine measures that are tracked for the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP). The measures include the following.

  1. Prophylatic Antibiotic Given to Patients Within 60 Minutes
  2. Accurate Antibiotic Selection
  3. Prophylatctic Antibiotic Discontinued Within 24 Hours
  4. Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Prophylaxis Given Within 24 Hours
  5. Appropriate Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Prophylaxis Ordered
  6. Temperature Monitored on SCIPS Selected Surgical Cases
  7. Foley Catheter Removal Within Prescribed Timeframe Following Surgery
  8. Proper Hair Removal Prior to Surgery
  9. Beta Blockers Used Appropriately
